Several years ago, a friend texted me to ask me to try out a yoga class with her. I kind of rolled my eyes (I was out walking the track at the time), but something made me say yes. That was a life-changing moment for me.

I've found yoga classes to have wonderful physical and mental benefits – I gained much flexibility, strength and self-confidence, lost quite a bit of weight, got rid of my sciatica, found something that gave me a wonderful calmness of spirit and made a number of new friends. The best thing about yoga, though, is anyone can do it regardless of physical shape, ability or age – there are ALWAYS modifications for poses and classes from beginner to advanced. You are never in competition with anyone but yourself to get better. I temporarily stopped my yoga practice a couple of years ago (the studio I attended closed), but I have recently started again at Anytime Fitness. There are also other great places in town to check it out, like the Yoga Room Downtown. I'm SO glad to be back in my practice and I encourage anyone to give it a try.

I'm in the process of moving at the moment, so I've gotten into minimalism to help declutter my apartment as I pack boxes. Not only have I gotten rid of extra clothes, dishes and books in an effort to live more simply, I've also adopted the mindset in other aspects of my life. For one, I've "cleaned out" my social media, unfriending people I haven't talked to since high school and unfollowing celebrities who are not adding anything valuable to my life. The shedding of unnecessary material and mental weight has been refreshing, and I hope to continue simplifying my life.

I've been trying to focus on quality skincare instead of spending so much money on makeup, so I could talk about all the skincare I'm loving for hours, but instead, I'm going to talk about a skincare and personal care podcast. I've been listening to the Forever 35 podcast since it began -- it is now almost 40 episodes in -- and it is a treat. Kate Spencer and Doree Shafrir chat every week about their favorite self-care practices and how they have navigated difficult life situations, as well as their favorite makeup and skincare. Not to mention, Kate and Doree have the most relaxing voices. It calms me just thinking about them. I've learned so much from their podcast and I look forward to every Thursday (the day the podcast publishes). I can't get enough of Forever 35; I've even recommended it to a few friends who also are now fans. Seriously, do yourself a favor and listen to Forever 35.
