Bob joined the News-Press 3 NOW team in summer 2007 after spending 26 years in radio broadcasting and voice work in the St. Joseph and Kansas City markets. Bob began his broadcast career in the 70's as a high school radio station DJ. He eventually entered commercial radio by becoming "Dave Knight," the weekend night DJ on KKJO 1550-AM. In 1971, when Eric was 8, he purchased a Brownie box camera for a quarter and used it to record the last known image of his father. Ken Newton, senior reporter/columnist at the News-Press, got his first daily newspaper byline in 1977 and has worked full-time as a print journalist for 29 years. A lifelong Missourian, he grew up in the state's Bootheel. Ken earned a degree in English from Southeast Missouri State University and taught high school in the St. Louis area for two years. Alonzo Weston joined the News-Press in 1989 as an intern. He currently covers education and mental health and is also an award-winning columnist. The St. Joseph native is a 2002 graduate of the inaugural class of the Diversity Institute at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. He has been voted the city's favorite newspaper columnist for the past 13 years.
