The Kansas City Royals announced next year's slate of games Tuesday morning.

The Royals will host the Chicago White Sox on Opening Day at Kauffman Stadium. The game will be on Thursday, March 29.

After their series with the White Sox, the Royals will head on the road to take on AL Central foes Detroit and Cleveland. Kansas City will play 20 interleague game next year, including a St. Louis trip on May 21 to 23.

The Major League Baseball All-Star break is scheduled for July 16 to 19 in Washington, D.C.

Next year's schedule starts earlier than usual. The league institutes an additional four off days in the 2018 calendar.

Kansas City is 72-72 this year and is currently three games back of the final Wild Card spot.
