I’m for early education for children, but I believe if a state, city or school district is going to fund it for free, then the parent who is placing the child should be working somewhere. If you’re on welfare, government assistance, food stamps, whatever, and you’re using this child care just as a babysitting service, to me, that’s wrong.
In regard to the Parkway, this city decided to block it off because somebody complained about the bump. Well it’s been over a month now, we still have a detour that is hard on our cars going from Robidoux down St. Joseph Avenue to Krug Park. I mean, come on, city. Use our tax dollars wisely and take care of what people complain about or open it up until you’re ready to do it.
Plenty of land
I’m calling in about the Mosaic program, helping out the homeless. And my suggestion would be if Mosaic wants to help, why don’t they donate some property on their grounds, Mosaic hospital for the homeless and build the food kitchen and a homeless shelter there? They say they want to help them with employment and drug abuse. Well, everything would be right there for them. And I’m sure there are plenty of jobs out there to put some of them to work. I think a lot of these homeless people just need a place to go. And what better place than right there by the hospital? There’s plenty of land if Mosaic will just donate some of it. It would move the homeless people from the Downtown area and solve the problem.
I have never had to show last year’s tax statements to get any form of a loan. I have had to produce proof of income. Even if I would show my financial information to somebody to get a loan, it remains private.
Life of Brian
My question is, when did we elect Brian Myers as our mayor? He seems to be the one who is always out there promoting everything that is not what the public wants. What’s wrong with this?
The head of our local Teamsters union said truck drivers carrying paper towels make more than school bus drivers who carry our precious cargo — our children. Then I believe the truck drivers need to take a big cut in their pay.
I am wondering if St. Joseph School District Superintendent Doug Van Zyl is going to do it. Is he going to get any A.C. units in our schools around town?
