BRIDGEPORT, Texas - Services for Jason Timothy Allen Mitchell, 21, of Bridgeport, are being held at 10 a.m. today, at the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport, under the direction of Rev. David Rucker and Rev. Johnny Irish. Jason passed away April 1 outside Bremond, Texas near College Station.

Jason was born January 29, 1992 to Darren and Sheri (Griswold) Mitchell in St. Joseph. Jason was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport.

After high school, Jason joined the military where he served with D Company 1-143IN in Afghanistan. It was there that he earned an Afghanistan campaign medal with campaign star. He was a member of HNC 3-1444thIN Scout Platoon. He was also a member of the Army National Guard. His hobbies included basketball and shooting guns.

He is survived by his parents, Billy and Sheri Webb of Bridgeport; brother, Mac Whitcomb of Pennsylvania; sisters, Jordan Griswold of St. Joseph, and Billie Webb of the home; grandparents, Pam Webb of Bridgeport, Nelda Webb of Bridgeport, Richard Griswold of St. Joseph, and Vickie Griswold of St. Joseph; niece, Chloe Allen; a god son, Abel Whitcomb; aunts and uncles, Shannon Webb, Tony and Angie Griswold, Richard and Marsha Griswold of St. Joseph, Shawn and Stacey Webb of Springtown, Texas, Hayley and Derrick Smith of San Antonio; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Billy Webb of Bridgeport.
