TEXARKANA, Ark. - Franklin Donald Ray of Texarkana, passed away at home September 29, 2013, surrounded by four generations of family.

Frank was born October 28, 1932 to Benjamin Jacob “B.J.” Ray and Hazel Essie Killingsworth Ray in Grant City, Mo.

He married Zelpha May Pottorff on March 15, 1952. Born to this union were five children: Frankie, Don, Kelly, Kathie and Vickie Hazel.

He was a Past Master of the Grant City Masonic Lodge #66 AF&AM, Past President of the FOE, Men’s Bowling Association and a member of Kiwanis Club in Ft. Madison, Iowa.

He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, bowling, playing pool, golfing, painting, yard work and reading Louis LaMour.

He had an entrepreneurial and hard working spirit. Throughout his life he owned and operated several businesses, such as bowling centers, full service gas station, Family Paint Center and Craft World and was a professional sandblasting and painting contractor.

Frank is survived by his wife, Zelpha of the home; four children, Don (Pam) Ray and Kelly Ray of Ft. Madison; two daughters, Frankie (Mark) Hagen of Leawood, Kan.; and Kathie Ray, Texarkana; his sister, Beverly Cadle; brother, Billy (Mary Helen) Ray; 11 grandchildren;17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; three sisters; infant daughter and granddaughter.

Services with Masonic Rites will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2013 with visitation at 1 p.m. at Prugh Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City.
