Two men have been charged in Daviess County for kidnapping and assault after allegedly holding a victim hostage in a van and beating him unconscious before leaving him in a ditch.

Court documents allege that on June 8 in Jamesport, Missouri, Caleb Kettner of Belton, Missouri, allegedly hid in the back of a van before choking the victim until he lost consciousness. The van allegedly was driven by Connor Monteer of Jamesport, who began beating the victim after he passed out, according to court documents.

Both Kettner and Monteer allegedly dragged the victim out of the vehicle as he regained consciousness, and both reportedly began beating the victim again until he lost consciousness for a second time. According to court documents, the men left the victim in a ditch.

The victim was later found and taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Monteer and Kettner have been charged with assault in the first degree and kidnapping in the second degree. The two are being held on $50,000 cash-only bonds in the Daviess-Dekalb Regional Jail.
