A man is in the hospital after leading Savannah Police on a high speed chase.

Savannah Police Chief David Vincent said and officer attempted to make a traffic stop Saturday afternoon but the vehicle sped off. While in pursuit, the vehicle struck a light pole on Park Street and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. 

Vincent said the man was conscious and talking at the scene, but was transported to the hospital.

Police recovered narcotics and a stolen firearm from the vehicle. The Savannah Police Department was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Andrew County Sheriff's Office.
