A warrant has been issued for a Chillicothe, Missouri, man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 4-year-old girl with an autism spectrum disorder.
Tanner Johnson, 25, is charged with having sexual contact with the victim in December 2018 while the child was staying at his house. Court documents indicate that the child, who has an autism spectrum disorder and is nonverbal, was acting strangely and showed signs of physical injury and discomfort after staying with Johnson.
The girl’s mother took the child to Cameron Regional Medical Center after finding blood in the girl’s pull-up, and the child was later transferred to Children’s Mercy Hospital where a sexual assault exam was performed. That found the child had injuries correlating with sexual assault as well as several bruises on her body.
Johnson was brought in for questioning several times, according to court documents, and told investigators that two other adults were present in his home when the assault allegedly occurred. Johnson told investigators he did not assault the child but would not take a lie detector test.
Johnson has been charged with statuary sodomy with deviate sexual intercourse, an unclassified felony charge. He is not currently in custody but has $50,000 cash-only bond with instructions for no contact with the victim or anyone under the age of 17.
