Smashed ceiling tiles, glass, popcorn kernels, straws and other garbage filled the lobby of the Plaza 8 on Tuesday morning.

St. Joseph police responded to the theater, which closed for good Sunday, before 10:30 a.m. to investigate a reported burglary, but what they found was extensive damage.

And when it's bulldozed in and the junk carted away what difference will it all have made?

Agree Socialfingered . . . not a great response to the situation, but talk about a shattered dream. That has to be soooo hard to take. My best to all concerned.

This manager shattered his own dream.....Plaza 8 has been on it's way out for a long time. This didn't help his situation. Now, not only is he out of a job, he'll be prosecuted for the vandalism....moron...

Popski, unless the manager is arrested, tried & convicted, he's not a moron. You, however…

Not seeing much of a point to trashing a place that will probably be bulldozed soon.

I wonder what the backstory is here - assuming the manager was responsible. Insurance fraud play to hopefully get enough to reopen? Mad at the owners because he was likely out of a job? Just seems weird.

How would you feel if you had tried everything to keep this venue open when..the town does not support it, the owners sell out, and you are now out of a job ?
