Next step needs to be to end mail delivery entirely. Only deliver packages. Everything else can just go to a PO Box and be picked up once a week. PO Box locations can be expanded and spread out to convenient locations. The huge decrease in the number of mail carriers needed will easily offset the increased cost of renting space for PO Boxes. That's the only way the post office is going to remain viable.

That could create a whole new set of problems.

No big deal. For the past 30 years we have had a never ending absence of delivery on Saturday.........and the "excuse" every single time was, "OH, your regular carrier was off and the substitute didn't know the route". Yeh, and in 30 years our "magnificant"
Post Office management couldn't figure it out.

The PO is broken. If it wasn't we wouldn't have a Fed X or UPS. The only thing the PO seems to excell at is compensastion for it's employees. Their fundamental compensastion system is horribly out of whack........their retirement is unreal....and management simply doesn't exist.

This move is just a blip. Ultimately they need to clean house.
