Too many environmental agencies have the “gotcha” attitude, said a local lawmaker of his reason for introducing a bill to prevent the usage of drones for surveillance over Missouri farms.

House Bill 48 would establish the “Preserving Freedom from Unwarranted Surveillance Act.” State Rep. Casey Guernsey, R-Bethany, filed the bill, which will prohibit unmanned aircraft from cruising over ranches and farms, gathering information without a warrant.

Doesn't this idiot know that satellites have been doing this for years? Maybe he needs to spend his valuable time on more pressing matters like the budget?

It starts with "We The People". Instead of blabbering in the paper, why don't you meet your Rep with a little research and a request. If you had ever dealt with the EPA you would be thankful someone gives a darn about this. BTW, Missouri has a balanced budget, so that seems to be under control.

And if you knew anything about Federal Law and the FAA in particular you would know that this is a waste of taxpayer money.
    1. You don't own the airspace above your land. Supreme court has ruled on that one.
    2. ALL aircraft, both manned and unmanned fall under the FAA and no state law can interfere with that.
    3. Some of the worst polluters I have ever met were farmers. I know several that have burned or buried leftover chemicals or simply dumped them into creeks.

"Mr. Guernsey, a seventh-generation farmer, said that on the state and federal level, there exists a “gotcha” mentality in the various environmental agencies. People serving on these agencies, he said, have little if any rural background and no knowledge of farming and agribusiness."
Funny, I didn't think you had to grow up on a farm to know that polluting ground water with chemicals is wrong. If you are conducting your business in accordance with state and federal law, you should have nothing to worry about. Like my first post says, we've been under satellite surveylance for years. If you were big enough fish for them to worry about you would allready know by now.

Thank you for introducing this legislation ! The EPA has become a rouge agency under Barack Husein Obama. I for one have no desire for drones in the skys , this government has turned into a despotic regime , resembling something from the Old Soviet Union ! This country belong to the people not the despot beurocrats !!!

That's not the point and apparently you missed your own contradictory comment. Satelites have been spying , if that's the case, why do they need drones ? How would you feel if drones were looking in your yard or peeking in your bedroom windows ? Do you like to be spied upon ? If so , you fit right in with these out of control radicals . And the Congressman is correct , three is a "gotcha " attitude with Lisa Jackson and her whole lot of leftist, look at their fraudulent water well testing that they are trying to use to shut down fracking across America ! Oh, I forgot the despot Jackson has resigned ! I guess she didn't like the idea of being called and held accountable to Washington Republicans in their oversight committee.

You're allready being observed and have for years. Now go put some tinfoil around your head and dig a big hole. I, for one, don't have a problem with someone looking into my back yard. While you're at it, you might want to disconnect your phone, turn off your internet, quit driving your car, or even watching cable tv because all those things are monitored by somebody.
