Milbourn's Family Restaurant will be closing its doors in Faucett, Mo., on Sunday.

Rick Milbourn opened the family diner in 2008 at Farris Truck Stop. He said the restaurant has had some financial ups and downs throughout the years and was asked by the property owners to leave, terminating his lease. Mr. Milbourn admitted he had gotten behind in his payments to the truck stop's owners.

“I'm trying to make the best of it,” he said. “I don't know what to say. It's just so unexpected and I'm as caught off-guard as anybody.”

There are several employees at the family restaurant, including Mr. Milbourn's daughters and brother.

Mr. Milbourn recently opened a second location, Milbourn Food & Drink Co., 6409 N. Cosby Ave., located just off the 64th Street exit in Kansas City, down the road from Zona Rosa. That restaurant will remain open.

The owners of Farris Truck Stop were not available for comment Friday.

Count me as one that liked Milbourn's Restaurant, but want nothing to do with the Farris Truck Stop itself. Milbourn's was always clean, the food good and the staff friendly. The rest of the truck stop is filthy with a bunch of rude, nasty, toothless chain smokers working the fuel desk. The store smells like a sewer, too. No thanks...

Milbourn's can do better than the Farris Truck Stop any day.

Stopped there once. Food was horrible. Truck stop was worse. I make it a point to fill up at QT if headed north and in st joe is headed south. Unless I'm going to mid-buch school there is no need to take the cruise control off.

I noticed the new place a couple weeks ago. It looks nice and inviting from the outside. Looking forward to trying it.

It is a sad news for the local foodies as they are going to lose their favorite eatery. The restaurants these days face tough competition and they need to upgrade their menu to stay at the top. Using beautiful menu covers could also help, at http://www.menudesigns.com/#!menu-covers/chol they can find amazing menu covers.
