Programming from FOX 26 KNPN was restored to customers of satellite service DirecTV on Friday after a two-and-a-half-week interruption attributed to contract disagreements.
Officials with KNPN released this statement late Friday afternoon: “We are pleased to announce that FOX 26 KNPN has reached an agreement with DirecTV for carriage of our signal. KNPN will be returned to the DirecTV service today. We thank our viewers for their patience and support.”
No further details were disclosed.
Previously, KNPN General Manager Eric Bradley had expressed disappointment with the satellite company’s Oct. 9 decision to remove the station from DirecTV’s service. The station’s owners, News-Press & Gazette Co. of St. Joseph, and DirecTV had been in negotiations for several weeks over rights to re-sell the station’s signal and other issues, he said.
NPG’s FOX-affiliated stations in other markets also were affected.
