Patrol responds to two fatalities

An Altamont, Mo., woman was killed in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 36 Sunday night, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred when Glenda Hicks, 54, slid off the south side of the roadway and into the median at around 9:55 p.m. Her 2007 Mercury Milan struck an embankment, overturned twice and came to a rest on its top. Ms. Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene and was wearing her seat belt.
The patrol responded to two other accidents, including one fatality, east of St. Joseph on Monday morning.
A Princeton, Mo., man was killed after he overturned the truck he was driving at around 8:10 a.m.
Roy Brown, 91, was traveling on Interstate 35, three miles south of Bethany, Mo., when he overcorrected his 1990 Ford truck. The truck slid into the median, overturned and came to a rest on the driver's side. Mr. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger, Gordon Swan, 71, was taken to an area hospital and is listed in serious condition. Mr. Swan, of Kansas City, is Mr. Brown's son-in-law. Both men were wearing seat belts.
A Liberty, Mo., woman was hospitalized Monday after the 2005 Subaru she was driving struck a tractor-trailer at around 9:15 a.m.
Mary Davenport, 67, was traveling southbound on Route J, three miles east of Stewartsville, Mo., when she ran a stop sign. A 2005 International tractor-trailer was headed westbound on U.S. Highway 36 and struck Ms. Davenport's car on the driver's side. Ms. Davenport had to be extricated from her vehicle and was then transported by ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center.
