CAMDEN POINT, Mo. - A local teen and volunteer firefighter died in a one-vehicle accident Sunday.
Kyle Barr, 18, was pronounced dead at the accident scene Sunday morning, said Capt. Frank Hunter, a spokesman for the Platte County Sheriff's Department.
Witnesses called in a possible accident at 4:03 a.m. Sunday on Missouri Route E in Platte County near Jowler Creek, just west of Camden Point, according to the Sheriff's Department report. Platte County Sheriff's deputies and emergency responders found a 1982 Chevrolet pickup turned over in the creek bed with the body of Mr. Barr, who lived in nearby Camden Point.
Investigators determined that the pickup left the roadway smashing through the guardrails and turned over before sliding into Jowler Creek, Mr. Hunter said.
Mr. Barr had been a member of the Camden Point Volunteer Fire Department. No further information was available Monday.
