“Cruzin through the Decades” is the 2011 Apple Blossom Parade theme, the festival association has announced.“This parade theme this year is just fun,” Executive Director Michelle Wolfe said.The Apple Blossom Parade is set for May 7. Entrants are encouraged to reflect this theme in their entries. Organizers are hoping to see an increase in the number of floats in the parade this year.“We’ve seen some great floats in recent years,” association President Ken Rosenauer said, “but we never have too many and none are ever too good. This is the year we really want to see the number of well-done floats rise.”The grand prize for the float that best represents the parade theme will be $300, with second place receiving $150 and third place $75. In addition, non-cash recognition plaques for units will be given in the following categories: Best Float, Best Vintage Float, Best Vintage Vehicle, Best Walking Unit and Best Band.Parade entry forms are now available by calling (816) 261-0422 or by going to the updated Apple Blossom website at www.appleblossomparade.com. All phone messages will be answered.Entry forms, including fees, must be submitted by mail. The regular parade entry deadline is April 15. After that, the entry fee increases.
