Clydesdales Will Lead The Way
The Apple Blossom Parade and the Sound of Speed Airshow are working together this year so parade-goers can get to the airport for lots of flying afterward.
This year, the annual parade will start a half-hour earlier, at 9:30a.m. Saturday morning. That will give people some extra time to get through expected heavy traffic heading to Rosecrans Memorial Airport for the air show.
Leading the way will be the Budweiser Clydesdale horse team. The world-famous hitch also will be at the air show Sunday.
Grand marshalls for this year's parade will be Col. Michael C. McEnulty, commander of the 139th Airlift Wing of the Missouri Air National Guard at Rosecrans, and Justin Rother, who portrays the first Pony Express rider, Johnny Fry. Ponies to planes, if you will.
The parade will take the traditional route once it leaves Noyes and Frederick, winding down Frederick Avenue to Ninth Street, then west on Felix and ending at Fifth and Felix.

Upsetting rumors have circulated enough around Atchison County, Mo., to reopen the case of a 1985 triple-fatality fire that still weighs heavily on the minds of people who experienced its aftermath.
