Nell Morris was born February 1, 1927, in Randolph County, Ala.

She graduated from the Albertville High School, Albertville, Ala., in 1945. After graduation, she went to work for the Army Dept. in Washington, D.C. in June of 1945 for two years. She later met Leslie Morris after his tour of duty in the Army. He was from St. Joseph.

They were married in Washington D.C. on June 14, 1947, and made St. Joseph their home. The celebrated 63 years and 10 months of marriage before his passing on March 30, 2011, at the age of 91. They are the parents of three children, Patricia Morris and Steven Morris, both of St. Joseph, and Carolyn McCraw of Lee’s Summit, Mo. There are two grandsons, Kyle and Ben McCraw.
